In the second picture you can see the davenport once the paint had been removed, the wood fed and it had been finished in a beeswax polish to give a more natural appearance than varnish.
Finally the restoration work was completed by replacing the damaged leather on the flap with new dyed leather. In this case the leather was left plain in accordance with the customer's requirements, but leather can be supplied tooled with gold or blind (black) borders.
